As excited as I am for Ryan Adams tonight, I think I’m just as excited that Jason Isbell is opening with a solo acoustic set.
Great way to spend a Tuesday night.

Life Changer?
My boss is insane. In the best possible way. Total alpha person. Fitness freak. Crazy person. Etc. But, generally, pretty awesome and we’ve worked together fantastically for the last two months.
Last week, she discovered Tough Mudder. She then focused on it and wanted to do it and get a team of work people and others to do it too.
Additionally, she knows of my struggles to get right with running and exercise.
Today, she went ahead and signed me up for Tough Mudder when she signed up. I had no say. I was doing it. I love this. It’s going to kill me. I need this. I think I may actually even WANT this.
Here’s to becoming a beast by September 8.

Yay Drafthouse…
I want to be totally excited for the Alamo Drafthouse coming to DC. Totally want to be. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things. It’s acolytes rave and I’m absolutely gonna go there, but…
It’s not really coming to DC. Hell, it’s barely coming to the DC market. Ashburn, VA is not DC. Ashburn is closer to West Virginia than it is to my place in Arlington. DC to Ashburn is 34 miles. That’s not close. And it’s located by Route 7 and the Dulles Toll Road. Neither of these roads moves particularly fast due to traffic. You aren’t going there from DC on a weeknight or a Friday night after work.
Also, you have to drive there. There is no metro, which most of the young folks of the area rely on to go out on the weekends. When you have all of DC plus a good chunk of Bethesda, Arlington, etc to choose from, not a lot of people are going out to Ashburn to do something.
However, there are a lot of people in Loudoun County, where Ashburn is. Lots of families, lots of teenagers, etc. Good for them. They don’t get a lot of cool stuff out there, so for those folks its a god send. I hope they do beaucoup business. But this is not going to be a raving success for those in DC or in the immediate proximity. This is for the Loudoun market. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
In the meantime, the DC folk can enjoy our fine indie theaters and our own local independent cinema Drafthouse in Arlington.

I did a little FanPost-y thing at the request of Mr. Mayo over at StrideNation. I shall discuss the struggles of being a fatty trying to run here.
